Matthew Oldfield’s Lie

Matthew Oldfield did not state in his first statement that Russell O’Brien left the restaurant with him at 9:30pm. 

Matthew Oldfield did not state in his first statement that Russell O’Brien stayed with his daughter.

Matthew Oldfield did not state that Jane Tanner switched places with Russell O’Brien to allow Russell O’Brien to return to the restaurant.

Due to Matthew Oldfield giving his first statement at the same time as Jane Tanner at 11:30am on the 4th May 2007, who said the complete opposite to Matthew Oldfield regarding Russell O’Brien's check arrived 9:30pm, he did not know she had said this until after his interview had finished.

Also, after Rachael Oldfield gave hers and said the same as Jane Tanner, as well as Russell also stating that he left with Matthew Oldfield, Matthew Oldfield now had to add Russell’s lie in to his statements, causing Matthew Oldfield to now lie regarding this 9:30pm check.



Matthew Oldfield gave the above statement a week after Madeleine McCann had gone missing.

By this time the group had typed up another timeline and had a week to discuss the timeline in more detail.

Matthew Oldfield stated in his rogatory interview regarding the timelines;



Matthew Oldfield clearly states that after their first interviews, the group got together, without Gerry McCann and Kate McCann and that they typed up the 3rd timeline.

This was done before their 2nd statements which were given on the 10th and 11th May 2007

Therefore, by the time the rest of the group gave their second statements, they were all reading from the same timeline.

EXCEPT FOR GERRY MCCANN AND KATE MCCANN WHO ALWAYS FOLLOW TIMELINE 2 OFF MADELEINES ACTIVITY BOOK.

Matthew Oldfield finally states that Russell O’Brien left the restaurant with him at 9:30pm.

Matthew Oldfield now states that he cannot remember who suggested checking the McCann’s apartment for Kate McCann, whether it was himself or Russell O’Brien.

Matthew Oldfield had no choice but to add Russell O’Brien in at this time, as other members of the group had previously said that the 2 men left together.

OUR CONCLUSION REGARDING MATTHEW OLDFIELD AND RUSSELL O’BRIEN CHECKING TOGETHER AT 9:30PM IS THAT MATTHEW OLDFIELD LIED IN HIS 2ND STATEMENT.

THIS LIE ALLOWED JANE TANNERS LIE TO CONTINUE AND IT ALSO PROVIDED AN ALIBI FOR THE MEMBERS OF THE GROUP.
