The False Alibi - Tannerman
From our findings above, we feel confident enough to say that the above members of the group have lied without a doubt. The reason for the above lies was to give the group their alibi’s.
Without their false alibi, the group members had nothing to prove that they weren’t involved in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.
This is how and why the group created the alibi.
According to a holiday maker, Stephen Carpenter, he stated that he left the Tapas restaurant with his wife and children between 9:15-9:30pm on Thursday 3rd May 2007.
Stephen Carpenter said that the time they were walking home, his wife said the following day, that she had heard Madeleine’s name being called. This was between 9:15-9:30pm.
According to the group, Madeleine was not discovered missing until 10:00pm by Kate McCann.
How could Stephen Carpenters wife hear Madeleines name being called during this time if Madeleine McCann didn’t go missing until 10:00pm.
In our opinion, someone found out that Madeleine McCann had been removed early than the group have said.
The group knew this, but the alarm was not officially raised until after 10:00pm when the reception was informed.
Because the group knew what happened that night (proof of their lies now prove this) we believe a member of the group returned to the apartments at approximately 9:15pm (not Jane Tanner, but possibly Kate McCann). She knew her daughter had died and was left in the apartment, but she didn’t know what the exact plan was in terms of moving Madeleine’s body that very night.
Gerry McCann had left the restaurant at 9:05pm.
Jane Tanner said that Kate McCann has been wondering what was taking Gerry McCann so long on his check and that’s why she went to check. (Jane Tanner lied about going on this check)
We do believe it was Kate McCann who returned to the apartment during this time and found Madeleine being prepared to be moved.
This would then cause Kate McCann to shout Madeleine's name between 9:15-9:30pm.
The group knew that Kate McCann had found this out and therefore had to replace Kate McCann leaving for Jane Tanner (This was not a group decision as can be seen from the group having 2 different timelines. This was the cause for the group to have 2 timelines.)
We believe their original plan was to check every 30 minutes and eventually find Madeleine McCann had disappeared, much later than the time Kate McCann potentially went to the apartment at 9:15-9:30pm, and later than the alarm being raised at 10:00pm.
Russell O’Brien knew that they had to protect themselves and create a false alibi to cover the real time the earlier alarm was raised. He told his partner Jane Tanner to lie and say that she did a check after Gerry McCann had left and before Matthew Oldfield had left, so she would be able to see the man with child.
Jane Tanner didn’t tell Gerry McCann or Kate McCann about this man she saw, not until 1:00am on the 4th May 2007 when she was talking to the Portuguese authorities.
This was the first time Gerry McCann heard about the abductor.
This was also at the same time as Russell O’Brien was writing the timeline in the children’s activity book as according to Russell O’Brien in his rogatory interview given on 10th April 2008 at 8:59am.
Jane Tanner describes telling the Portuguese authorities in front of Gerry McCann that night in her rogatory interview given on the 8th April 2008.
As Jane Tanner states, this is when she informed the Portuguese authorities about the man she had seen. Jane Tanner has not told Gerry McCann about this man prior to telling the Portuguese authorities because she had not spoke to him, and therefore was not aware that the time she was about to tell the Portuguese authorities about the man she saw carrying the child, she didn’t know that Gerry McCann had spoke to Jeremy Wilkins outside the apartment at the same time she was saying she had seen this man.
The interaction with Jeremy Wilkins was not wrote on the groups timelines by Russell O’Brien as he was not aware of this event when he was writing them out.
Once Jane Tanner had told the Portuguese authorities this lie, Gerry McCann was not able to deny what she had seen.
Even after the group found out about what Jane Tanner had supposedly seen at 9:15pm, not one member of the group says they went to check in the direction this man was supposedly walking in.
Gerry And Kate McCann do not add any emphasis to this man Jane Tanner supposedly seen in their 1st statements.
Due to Jane Tanner finding out that Gerry McCann had been speaking to Jeremy Wilkin’s at the time she was supposedly checking and seeing the man with child, she thought that she would have to add this in to her statement to make it more believable. Also, at this time, Gerry McCann had also told the Portuguese authorities about his chat with Jeremy Wilkins outside the gate to the apartment.
Not long after Jane Tanner told the Portuguese authorities in front of Gerry McCann, and she found out about Jeremy Wilkins, Matthew Oldfield then went to Jeremy Wilkins apartment to ask him if he saw anything at the time he was talking to Gerry McCann.
This wasn’t out of concern for Madeleine McCann, it was to ensure that their lie was still able to continue.
So Jane Tanner added her check and sighting of the man with child with Gerry McCann’s interaction with Jeremy Wilkins as she now has no other choice but to continue her lie.
This is why she said in her first interview that it was at the same time as Gerry McCann was talking to Jeremy Wilkins.
By the time Jane Tanner gave her rogatory interview, she new that there was no logical explanation for why she didn’t say anything to Gerry McCann when she walked past. She also knew they hadn’t seen her because she had lied. Therefore, she questions her on logic regarding this event in her rogatory interview.
Initially when giving her first statement, Jane Tanner didn’t think her lie through logically. If she had thought about it more, she should have known she would have been questioned about not saying anything to Gerry McCann while walking past.
Gerry McCann also knew that he couldn’t say he had seen Jane Tanner because he knew she hadn’t walked past and Jeremy Wilkins wouldn’t have seen her either.
After their first statements were given, and the discrepancy between himself and Jane Tanner was in their statements, he allowed her lie to continue by crossing the road to talk to Jeremy Wilkins, allowing Jane Tanner to walk by unnoticed. (See Jane Tanners lie and Gerry McCann’s lie)
Now that Jane Tanner’s lie had been told in her 1st statement, other members of the group had to agree with her lie, or else the lies would be found out.
That’s why Rachael Oldfield said in her interview about Russell leaving with Matthew Oldfield at 9:30pm.
It gave her husband the false alibi he needed, and it also included Russell O’Brien, the same as Jane Tanner’s statement did.
Russell O’Brien when giving his first statement placed himself in to Matthew Oldfield’s check to ensure he was placed in the restaurant before the supposed abduction had taken place.
Even though there was discrepancies in the groups 1st statements, by the time they gave their 2nd statements and their rogatory interviews, they had covered this lie completely and ensured they all had false alibis to place them in the restaurant when the supposed abduction happened.
OUR CONCLUSION FROM THESE FINDINGS IS THAT JANE TANNER WAS TOLD TO LIE BY HER PARTNER RUSSELL O’BRIEN, BY SAYING SHE SAW THE ABDUCTOR WHILE GERRY MCCANN WAS STOOD ON THE STREET AND THE REST OF THE GROUP WHERE INSIDE THE TAPAS RESTAURANT. THIS WOULD THEN PROVIDE THE FALSE ALIBI THE GROUP NEEDED.
GERRY MCCANN COULDN’T ADMIT JANE TANNER LIED OR THEY WOULDN'T HAVE AN ALIBI, THEREFORE BY CROSSING THE ROAD. JANE TANNERS ALIBI WAS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE AND EVOLVE.
WE BELIEVE RUSSELL O’BRIEN HAS HAD MORE INVOLVEMENT IN THE DISAPPEARANCE OF MADELEINE MCCANN THAN PEOPLE HAVE SUSPECTED. (We will return to this point later)
An extra note to add to this was the information released regarding Julian Totman possibly being the man Jane Tanner was.
He supposedly wore the same clothes that she described in the man carrying the child, he also kept the pyjamas of his daughter which were very similar to Madeleine McCann’s.
Julian Totman has said that he had collected his child from the crèche that night and walked the route Jane Tanner describes and that it was possibly him that she saw.
The only problem with this is that Julian Totman would have been walking in the opposite direction the the direction Jane Tanner had said the abductor was walking, if Julian Totman had collected his child from the crèche.
The crèche was towards the direction the “abductor” was walking towards and Julian Totman’s apartment was in the direction the “abductor” was walking away from.
We do not believe Jane Tanner saw Julian Totman that night as she lied.
We believe the MET knew she lied, but could not say this without enough evidence. Rather than saying this, they found a holiday makers statement which was a close match to what Jane Tanner had said she seen, and they replaced her abductor with Julian Totman’s statement.
This removed Tannerman from the investigation without admitting Jane Tanner had lied.
Julian Totman did not say he saw anyone on the road that night, and he would have been walking in the opposite direction to what Jane Tanner said.
Therefore, the chances of Jane Tanner seeing Julian Totman that night was very slim.
She said the person she seen crossed the road hurriedly and she didn’t see his face as he didn’t look at her.
If it was Julian Totman crossing the road while carrying his child, sub consciously he would look left and right before crossing.
If he had looked left or right, he would have seen Jane Tanner approaching him, as well as Gerry McCann and Jeremy Wilkins talking.
OUR CONCLUSION REGARDING JULIAN TOTMAN IS THAT THIS WAS NOT THE PERSON JANE TANNER SAID SHE SAW.
JANE TANNER LIED.
JULIAN TOTMAN’S STATEMENT WAS THE CLOSEST MATCH TO JANE TANNER’S SIGHTING THE MET COULD USE TO RULE HER SIGHTING OUT IN OUR OPINION.
